Starting a Blog That Works - Some Successful Blog
Tips
Blogs run rampant on the internet as people clamor to document their trials and tribulations, to share pearls of
wisdom and in general share their lives with the world. The greater the quantity of blogs, the greater the
opportunity for comparison and inevitably some blogs will be better than others. Why are some blogs overloaded with
traffic while others struggle for hits? There’s a reason why some blogs are successes and others aren’t. There are
some little things you can do to increase traffic to your blog, but the success of your blog largely rides on how
well you blog, simple as that. Some people are good bloggers, others are not. Starting a blog doesn’t cost
anything, so anyone can start one. But not everyone can start a good blog and sustain it.
Good blogs are a pleasure to read; bad blogs are dull and elicit eye rolls. If you’re thinking about starting a
blog, think about what you’re going to blog about. Are you recording your day-to-day happenings, or are you
blogging about a specific topic? Once you have your subject matter, think about whether you actually have something
to say. Many blogs fail because they have a lot to tell, but not a lot to say about it. You should also think about
why you want to say what you have to say. The best bloggers are earnest about what they write and it shows through
in their blogging.
When starting a blog, you should take into account how much time you have to contribute to it. Readers like
blogs that update regularly. Of course there’ll be times when unexpected things swamp you, but too often people get
too busy or uninterested in blogging any further, every entry becomes an apology for not posting as much, and then
the blog dies out. Unless you have a good reason to stop, you should intend to follow through with your blogging.
And speaking of readers, a blog depends on its readers to survive. If no one is reading your blog, then it’s just a
personal journal that happens to be lying around for someone to possibly discover. After starting a blog, you might
want to network and read other people’s blogs as well so that they check yours out too.
When starting a blog, you definitely need insight, commitment and exposure. This might be debatable, but talent
plays a role as well. Some people are gifted with the ability to write well, and this is important since a blog
basically communicates through written word. If you like to write and you’re good at it to boot, then your blog is
near guaranteed success.
